Last week, we discussed whether Google should require you to use your real name for Google+ profiles. Google is working on eliminating fake profiles, and in the process, they've booted some real people, including actor +William Shatner. If you find out that your Google+ account has been suspended, you can appeal the suspension and get your profile reinstated.
Step 1 Request a Review
During the signup process, you'll be prompted to request a review. You can fill out the appeal form here where you can submit either a Photo ID, or links on the web that help prove your identity.
Step 2 Wait 24 Hours
Assuming the details you submitted in the appeal form passed inspection, you'll regain access to your account.
If, after 24 hours, your account is still suspended, you'll have to appeal to Google again.
Step 3 Request a Second Appeal
From your Google+ profile page, click on the link to the appeal form. Provide Google with more details about why your account should not be suspended. Provide as many details as possible as this may be your last chance to convince them you are a real person.
Step 4 Wait for Google to Contact You
Once the second appeal has been filed, you'll have to wait for Google to contact you directly to deal with the situation.
Step 5 Post in the Gmail Help Forum
If you're still unable to get assistance with reinstating your account, you can try posting for help in the Gmail Help Forum.
Step 6 Contact a Google Community Manager
Check out our list for Google community managers' Google+ profiles. Many of them are very active and responsive to questions. You may need to get a few friends to contact them on your behalf.
Step 7 Be Patient
Many people have been reporting that they've had to wait longer than 24 hours to get their profiles reviewed. Hopefully this is something Google can improve on.
Warnings
- If your Google+ account has been suspended, it may affect your ability to use the rest of your Google account fully, such as Gmail and Reader. You may get a message that your account has been locked due to "suspicious activity". I highly recommend you read +Fleep Tuque's story of how her account was suspended, and how she was able to get it back.
- While your Google+ profile is suspended, it will not be visible in search.
- Changing your Google+ profile name can trigger a review to ensure that it complies with Google's Community Standards. Google does not require you to use a real name for Google+, but you are asked to use a name that you "commonly go by in daily life".
- Children 13 and under cannot use Google+. Parents are discovering, the hard way, that once a child accepts a Google+ invite and answers the age question truthfully, that their child will be locked out of all their Google Accounts. Currently they are unable to retrieve data from that account, although Google is working on resolving the issue.

I'm sorry your profiles got suspended; however, I'm no longer certain of the rules for profile reinstatement, as they have changed. You can try going to the Google+ help forum here, and post your issues there.
It's stuff like this that has made me go from a Google fan to a Google hater in the last year. When I have to fight to get them to accept my name and believe that I'm a real person, they have morphed into Big Brother. "Do no evil" is long gone.
Sorry you had to go through that experience, Pam. It happened to one of my friends, too, and he's afraid of coming back. I wish Google would make it more plain that they no longer abide by a "common name" policy and accept all sorts of names now.

Just found out my name is not a "real name" and my account was suspended. Submitted an appeal and trying to be patient and wait for approval but seriously it makes no sense since I had to use google to locate much of the information to prove my name - why they being google couldn't do the same thing!

Now she is thinking to Delete Google+ content, to be un-suspended.

My Google+ profile is suspended by google. I have submitted my photo id to G+ and the details of mine are real. I didnt get any confirmations from google. I am facing this isuue from last 2 years. I have lodged complaints many time but still its suspended.
Also I am uable to upload my own pic in gmail which again says the google plus account is suspended.

Hell Friends, I had my Google+ profile suspended one day in April, 2012. I used the suffix: III, when I am technically Robert Terrance Mullane Jr. In essence, I am the third, but it has yet to be proven in a court of law; money has held me back.
In the interim, I tried to get Google to reinstate me twice, to no avail. I can't even get past my profile page to start a new Google+ account as Mullane Jr., for it blocks me every time! I am a writer who is getting older as I struggle to establish a career. I don't know any other means but Google, and soon even my minimal iGoogle page will be obliterated as they all will, come November 1, 2013.
Please advise. My very working life rises or falls with this issue. It is terribly unfair and silly to be so limited over such a non-issue, really. I will patiently await your assistance. I would be exceedingly grateful.

By the way, I just tried to visit the community managers suggested by 'toasty kitten' and I can't even VISIT anyone who is on Google+ during this suspension!!! I keep getting shut out; the page always closes on me. FAILS. DEAD. PERIOD. What to do? I could scream bloody murder.

It's been 2 years since this article was written, and Google+ accounts are now required for even more online activities, even posting app reviews from your phone into the Play Store. I only wish I had found this advice before Google denied my third appeal. I'm not convinced that a human has even seen what I've been sending. I guess real names don't count if they're not 'common' enough.
*Work-Around Solution!*
My name is Sean Fruit, and my G+ account was suspended for 'names violation'. I was able to unlock it by abbreviating. They allow one of the names to be an initial. Typing Sean F. in the name field instantly unlocked my account. I then typed my full name in the Nicknames field so that people I know can recognize me.

William Shatners Profile Got Deleted OMFG HE dont care anyway but cmon man somethings wrong in your it department. IF it wasnt for the pittance eraned on my you tube channels i would not even have g mail accounts. Thank Lord above this is not my only online source of income i'd be out on the streets in a month!
Is there an update with this issue? I've been trying to 'contact' google about my suspension with no results. I have no clue why they suspended me.
Google has killed freedom of speech on YouTube. They need to sell YouTube to a company that values real freedom of speech if such a thing exists.

None of these options work, because it just says my account is suspended.
Trying to do anything just brings back to the same "this profile is suspended" screen and I can't even visit my own profile.

How do I get this change I been out of my google plus four 4 months now I need this to change but how?
My account activities were suspended. I am allowed to browse through the content of others, but when I try to access mine content, it reflects a page error 404 or something like that.
I would advise anyone who have valuable content to never, ever fully rely on the Google Plus platform as a "content base" or hub. Make sure all of your content (shares) are backed up in a "cloud" or you have synced it from/to another reliable platform.
You may want to try a dot com website if applicable, that way if your account is suspended, you'll still have what you'd like to keep. Google Plus Community is a great platform, just remember to stay within your fields and crowds of interest only.
I agree with another poster, that certainly seems as if there are "no real individuals determining the suspension severity, or loss and keeps of people account, because they make it hard if at all possible to rebuttle the offense.
